UP DGME issues instructions for NEET PG stray vacancy round, details
Lucknow: The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME) Uttar Pradesh, has released a detailed notice outlining important instructions for candidates participating in the Stray Vacancy Round of UP NEET PG 2025 counselling.
This round is the final opportunity for eligible candidates to secure admission in MD, MS and DNB courses in government and private medical colleges across the state.
As per the notice, only those candidates who have not been allotted any seat in the earlier rounds of UP NEET PG 2025 counselling are eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round. Candidates who have already taken admission through All India Counselling or any other state counselling process are not allowed to participate.

Further, candidates who were allotted seats in previous rounds but did not join, or those who resigned after admission, will also not be eligible for this round.
Admissions will be strictly based on merit through online choice filling. Candidates must carefully fill and lock their choices within the specified timeline. Once a seat is allotted, admission formalities must be completed physically at the allotted nodal centre or medical college.
The DGME has also informed that the “Seat Against Cancellation (SAC)” option will be available. Vacancies arising due to cancellations will be displayed as virtual vacancies during the counselling process.

In case reserved category seats remain vacant after the counselling process, they will be merged into other categories as per the prescribed conversion rules. Ultimately, if seats still remain vacant, they may be converted to the Unreserved (UR) category.
The Directorate has clearly stated that candidates who fail to join after seat allotment in the Stray Vacancy Round may face debarment from UP NEET PG counselling for the 2026-27 session.
Candidates must carry all original documents at the time of admission and deposit the prescribed tuition fee through the official mode. A medical examination at the allotted institution is also mandatory before finalizing admission.
With this final round now underway, eligible candidates are advised to carefully read the guidelines and complete all procedures within the given deadlines to avoid losing their chance of admission.
