Siddipet: A shocking ragging incident has been reported from Surabhi Medical College, Siddipet, where a first-year MBBS student has accused eight seniors of mentally and physically harassing him on two separate occasions.

In the first incident, the student stated that four second-year and four fourth-year seniors forcibly shaved his beard with a trimmer, even after he told them he had grown it as part of a vow. After he reported the matter to the college authorities, four of the eight students were suspended.

To take revenge for this disciplinary action, the other four seniors allegedly ragged him again. When he refused to follow their instructions, they warned him of consequences. The student then filed a police complaint along with his mother, following which a case has been registered against all eight seniors.

Just two days after joining the hostel on November 19, the student claimed that the seniors targeted him during an interaction session because he did not greet them. They took him to a room, questioned him about his beard, and warned that he must greet seniors and obey their instructions.

Shortly after, four third-year and four fourth-year students allegedly forced him to shave his beard as a punishment. Even after he explained that it was due to a vow, they made him stand for an hour and answer random questions.

He approached the anti-ragging committee for help, but received no support. When he resisted and complained, the seniors allegedly abused him, entered his room without consent, seized his mobile phones and forced him to do sit-ups, reports Telangana Today.

Later, based on the complaint, the committee conducted an enquiry and found four seniors guilty of ragging the junior. Accordingly, the college authorities suspended them, as per TNIE news report

The second ragging incident happened on November 25 when the remaining four seniors, angered by the disciplinary action, ragged him by asking him to shift cricket kits from the ground to an upper room.

When he refused, they confronted him and said, “Have you become brave enough to defy your seniors? You even complained about the four seniors the other day,” and warned him to greet seniors every time.

Circle inspector Ch Vidyasagar said, "We have registered cases against all eight senior students, and further investigation is underway. The Anti-Ragging Team is also examining the second incident."
