Andhra Medical College to offer DM Pulmonary Medicine course from this year
Visakhapatnam: Bringing good news to the post-graduate medical aspirants, the Andhra Medical College has decided to begin a new super-speciality course in the medical discipline of Pulmonary medicine. The Visakhapatnam-based medical college is going to offer admission in DM Pulmonary Medicine from this year and it has received the required Essentiality Certificate and Consent of Affiliation for this.
An application will be made to the apex medical regulator National Medical Commission (NMC), erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI) in this regard to include the course in the coming national entrance examination.
DM Pulmonary Medicine or Doctorate of Medicine in Pulmonary Medicine is a super-specialty post-doctorate course in medicine. The course aims to make doctors skilled at treating pulmonary and neural disorders.

As per the latest media report by The Hindu, the Essentiality Certificate in this regard was issued by the Health Secretary and the consent of affiliation was issued by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.

The copies of affiliation granted by the University and the certificate were handed over to the Professor and HoD of Respiratory Medicine and Superintendent of Govt. Hospital for Chest and Communicable Diseases, Visakhapatnam (GHCCD), Visakhapatnam, Dr. K.V.V.Vijaya Kumar. While, handing over the documents on Saturday, the principal of the medical college, P.V. Sudhakar lauded the progress made by the department recently.
While commenting on the matter, Dr. Sudhakar informed the daily that in order to ensure that the newly proposed course gets included in the national entrance test conducted this year, the college would soon address the NMC.
