The decision was taken during a meeting on Tuesday. Earlier, the college’s anti-ragging committee had investigated the matter, but the findings were not made public. During the meeting, the administration decided to forward the matter to the national level.

Speaking to Free Press Journal, Hamidia Hospital medical superintendent Dr Sumit Tandon, chairman of the anti-ragging committee of the medical college, said, “In a meeting convened on Tuesday, we decided to forward our report to the national anti-ragging committee. We do not disclose the findings of our report.”
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that 15 MBBS students were suspended for allegedly being involved in the violent clash that left a doctor in the ICU and several students injured. A small argument over who would get instant noodles first at the college canteen late at night turned into a violent fight between day scholars and hostelers. During the clash, students used iron rods, sticks, and batons to attack one another. A first-year student narrowly escaped serious injury, but a doctor ended up in the ICU.
The student who was attacked later filed a complaint at the Koh-e-Fiza police station, and an FIR has been registered. The police are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the medical college held an urgent meeting of the Disciplinary Committee on December 5 and found 15 students responsible for the incident. They were suspended on the spot, and hostelers were asked to vacate their rooms immediately.
However, to settle the issue, a delegation of the Junior Doctors Association met the Koh-e-Fiza police, but police officials said that once the FIR was registered, it would be disposed of by the court.
