Violent clash at Gandhi medical college Bhopal over midnight noodles- 15 MBBS students suspended, 1 doctor in ICU

Bhopal: A total of 15 MBBS students from Gandhi Medical College have been suspended for their alleged involvement in a clash on the campus that left a doctor seriously injured, who is currently in the ICU, and several others wounded.
A small argument over who would get instant noodles first at the college canteen late at night turned into a violent fight between day scholars and hostelers. During the clash, students used iron rods, sticks, and batons to attack one another. A first-year student narrowly escaped serious injury, but a doctor ended up in the ICU.

The incident took place around midnight on December 4 when hostel students went to the canteen to have noodles. The clash reportedly erupted after an argument over the presence of day scholars at the canteen during the night, as per the TOI report.
Some students were reportedly intoxicated, and a minor disagreement quickly escalated. Soon, the situation got out of control and turned into a violent brawl. NDTV reported that a student from the 2024 batch was allegedly surrounded by about 15 senior students and beaten with sticks. When a senior resident doctor attempted to intervene, he was brutally beaten and suffered severe head and body injuries.
Following the attack, the first-year student had arm and shoulder injuries and was discharged after treatment, but the doctor had to be admitted to the ICU.
The student later filed a complaint at the Koh-e-Fiza police station, and an FIR has been registered. The police are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the medical college held an urgent meeting of the Disciplinary Committee on December 5 and found 15 students responsible for the incident. They were suspended on the spot, and hostelers were asked to vacate their rooms immediately.
Calling the incident "grave indiscipline", Dean Dr Kavita N. Singh said, "Medical students are expected to display maturity, restraint and professionalism. Violence on campus will not be tolerated. Strict action will continue."
