Lucknow: In a major boost to the medical education sector in Uttar Pradesh, 9 new medical colleges are going to run in the upcoming month.

The medical colleges that will be made functional this month will be in districts - Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, and Siddharthnagar.

According to a recent UNI report, aimed at providing better health facilities to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh, nine new medical colleges will be made functional by the end of July. All these medical colleges will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 30, in the Siddharthnagar district.

In view of the proposed programme of PM, State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday asked the administration to complete all necessary arrangements on time. It will be a historic occasion for the state when all the nine medical colleges in nine districts will be dedicated simultaneously.

Earlier, the state had only 12 medical colleges till 2017. But as soon as the Yogi Government came to power, the number got multiplied by four within 4 years.

In this sequence, the government has planned to open medical colleges on the Public-Private-Partnership model in 16 districts of the state that do not have any medical college till now.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that until now, medical colleges have been made functional in at least 59 districts of the state. In order to achieve the goal of having at least one medical college in each district, the Government is planning to follow the PPP model for the remaining 16 districts

The Yogi-led government is preparing to make Uttar Pradesh a hub of medical education, where not only the people of the state but people across the world can get all types of medical facilities.

Apart from these, Uttar Pradesh already has four premier medical institutes namely SGPGI, Ram Manohar Lohia, Safai institute and KGMU.
