Soon: Jamshedpur to get 2nd Medical College with 100 MBBS seats
Jamshedpur- In order to enhance medical education in Jharkhand, a second government medical college is soon going to be established in East Singhbhum district. As per the plans, the college will be established within the premises of Khasmahal Sadar Hospital.
The proposed medical college at Khasmahal Sadar Hospital aims to offer MBBS studies with an initial capacity of 100 seats.
This initiative is a part of a broader strategy to expand Sadar hospitals in districts such as Khunti, Bokaro, Sahibganj, Ramgarh, and Giridih of Jharkhand to include a few more medical colleges.
As per the recent media news report by Avenue Mail, in February this year, the Jharkhand Health Department submitted a proposal to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for consideration. Therefore, a comprehensive inspection of Jamshedpur Sadar Hospital has been conducted recently to collect all the required information for NMC and obtain the necessary Letter of Permission (LOP) for setting up this new medical college. The inspection was carried out by Jamshedpur Health Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh, where he evaluated the infrastructure and facilities at the Sadar hospitals in support of this expansion.
