Tanda Medical College MBBS intern expelled, fined Rs 1.8 lakh for attacking junior with knife

Kangra: A shocking case of alleged ragging unfolded at Dr Rajendra Prashad Medical College, Tanda where a junior medical student was allegedly attacked with a knife by an intern medical student on the eve of Holi. Based on the disciplinary committee recommendation, the college administration expelled the intern for 18 months and fined him Rs. 1.8 lakh.
As per the latest UNI news agency report, the alleged attack caused minor injuries to the junior. Even though he escaped deep wounds, he experienced severe bleeding. The jacket that the junior was wearing was torn by the accused knife during the attack, making it a key piece of evidence in the case.
Dr Milap Sharma, Principal of DRPGM College Tanda, told UNI that the accused was an intern of the 2019 MBBS batch, who allegedly attacked an MBBS 2022 batch student on the eve of Holi in the college ground where the festival was being celebrated.
Dr Sharma confirmed the action to Tribune stating it was based on the anti-ragging committee's report. The committee investigated complaints and found that a junior student was harassed and beaten by seniors during Holi. Following the committee's recommendation, the college administration took strict action, imposing both suspension and a fine on the offender. The move aims to curb ragging and ensure a safer environment for students.
