Tomo Riba Institute Of Health And Medical Sciences Introduces DNB Courses in 4 Specialties
Naharlagun: Aiming at providing the State with more medical specialists, the Naharlagun-based Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) medical college has introduced Diplomate of National Board (DNB) postgraduate courses on four specialities including anesthesiology, radiology obstetrics & gynaecology and paediatrics.
As per a recent media report, TRIHMS has obtained accreditation from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi for DNB anaesthesiology for a period from January 2021 to December 2025 and DNB obstetrics and gynaecology from January 2020 to December 2024.
Students would have to clear the All India NEET-PG examination in order to be eligible to take up these courses. Two students have already joined the DNB obstetrics & gynaecology course that started last year in the institute.

As per the latest media report by the Arunachal Times, TRIHMS Director Dr. Moji Jini has informed the daily about applying for DNB post-graduate courses after the institute earned permission for conducting MBBS courses back in 2018.
The Director has further stated that these post MBBS-DNB and post-diploma DNB courses, offered by the institute, would be equivalent to MD/MS and will be eligible to apply for teaching faculty in any medical college on completion of courses.
Dr. Jini has mentioned in a statement, as per the report by Arunachal Times, that "Starting of these post-graduate DNB courses will not only improve the quality of patient care but also will widen the academic activity of the medical college."
"DNB radiology will also be accredited by the NBE once MRI machine is installed in the radiology department of TRIHMS," he added.
