New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has invited applications for the Fellowship Exit Examination 2026, which is scheduled to be conducted in June and July 2026.

Eligible FNB trainees can submit their online applications through the official NBEMS website from May 14 to May 28, 2026, while the theory and practical examinations will be held on the same day for each specialty.

Date of Examination June / July 2026 Theory and Practical Examination shall be held on the same day. Concerned candidates in each speciality shall be informed about the date and venue of the Theory & Practical examination through admit cards, once examination centers are notified.

Fellow of National Board (FNB) Exit Examination (Theory & Practical)

Information for Candidates:-

FNB Exit is an exit examination leading to the award of FNB qualification.

A candidate registered with NBEMS as a FNB trainee and obtaining requisite period of training as prescribed by NBEMS & fulfilling other eligibility criteria as stated in the Information Bulletin may appear for the FNB Exit examination.

Candidates should go through this bulletin carefully for eligibility criteria before applying. Queries pertaining to eligibility and other issues will only be entertained if the information requested is not given in the bulletin of information or NBEMS website.

The list of specialties in which examination will be conducted can be seen at Annexure - II.

Candidate should ensure that all the information entered during the online submission of application form is correct and factual. Information provided by the candidates in the online application form shall be treated as correct.

NBEMS itself does not edit / modify / alter any information entered by the candidates at the time of online submission of application form under any circumstances. There is no provision of change in any information after conduct of examination and / or declaration of result. Such requests shall not be entertained.

Application for FNB Exit Examination 2026 can only be submitted online through NBEMS website.

There is no other methodology for application submission. Application submitted through any other mode shall be summarily rejected. There is no requirement to submit the hard copy print out of the application form and documents uploaded to NBEMS website.

Application form of candidates producing false or fabricated records will not be considered and the candidate may be further debarred from appearing in any future examinations of NBEMS.

Candidates are advised to ensure that no mandatory column in the online application form is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence / request for re-consideration will be entertained.

Candidates should go through this bulletin carefully for eligibility criteria before applying. Queries pertaining to eligibility and other issues will only be entertained if the information requested is not given in the bulletin of information or NBEMS website. No Queries of the Guardians / Parents / Spouse will be entertained on telephone with regard to the eligibility and disclosure of the results.

Candidate found INELIGIBLE at any stage of FNB Exit examination, will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and / or passing the FNB Exit examination, the results / candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and / or is deemed to be cancelled, even if result has been declared.

Candidature of candidates who are allowed to appear provisionally in the examination shall be cancelled and result, if declared, shall be treated as null and void if they fail to fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed.

NBEMS reserves the right to withdraw permission, if any, granted inadvertently to any candidate who is not eligible to appear in the FNB Exit Examination even though the admit card / roll number has been issued or name / roll number is displayed on NBEMS website.

Fee shall neither be carried forward to a future exam nor refunded on successful submission of application.

Candidates’ eligibility is purely provisional & is subject to the fulfilment of eligibility criteria as prescribed by NBEMS.

NBEMS reserves its absolute rights to alter the examination schedule, pattern, policy and guidelines at any time during the continuation or after the completion of FNB training. The candidate shall have no right whatsoever for claiming / deriving any right from past or present schedule, policy and guidelines of NBEMS.

NBEMS reserves its absolute right to alter, amend, modify or apply any or some of the instructions / guidelines contained in this information bulletin.

The existing schedule, pattern, policy and guidelines are for ready reference only but in no way, they are or are ought to be treated as representative or acknowledgment of fact that NBEMS is bound to follow the same in future.

In case of any ambiguity in interpretation of any of the instructions/ terms/ rules / criteria regarding the determination of eligibility / conduct of examinations / registration of candidates / information contained herein, the interpretation of the NBEMS shall be final and binding in nature.

Request shall not be entertained for change in date / center of examination under any circumstances. Candidates are advised not to canvass for such representation.

Copy of application form submitted may be retained by the candidate for future reference.

Admit Cards for FNB Exit Examination shall be available to download at NBEMS website as and when the examination centers are notified by NBEMS.

Result for FNB Exit Examination shall be displayed on the website.

Candidates should ensure before applying for FNB Exit Examination that their MD / MS / DM / M.Ch / Diploma is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as per provisions of the NMC Act, 2019 and the First Schedule of the IMC Act. If it is found at any stage that the Degree / Diploma is not recognized by NMC, NBEMS will have the right to cancel the registration/examination.

Registration with NBEMS is mandatory for all candidates appearing in FNB Exit Examination.

The applicant candidates should communicate with NBEMS regarding matters related to FNB Exit Examination as per prescribed communication protocols only, detailed under Chapter on Communication Protocols.

All the correspondence through post should be addressed to the Executive Director, National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, Medical Enclave, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi-110029. Candidates are requested to super scribe the envelope with the subject matter of the correspondence for expeditious processing.

The jurisdiction for court cases / disputes shall be at New Delhi only.

Examination Fee:

 Examination Fee (In INR)*: ₹ 5,250/-

*Excluding charges as may be applicable by various payment gateways.

Application forms once submitted cannot be withdrawn. Any claim for refund, adjustment or carrying forward of Application fee will not be entertained after successful submission of application.

How to pay: The prescribed exam fee should be remitted through payment gateway provided using UPI / Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or other modes as may be made available and have been provided on the web page. For more information, please visit the website 

Examination fees in respect of candidates who are absent or declared ineligible due to any reason will be forfeited. Candidates are advised to read the rule position carefully and satisfy the terms and conditions for fulfilment of eligibility criteria before proceeding for payment of fees.

Eligibility:

Candidates who have undergone training as a FNB trainee at any of the NBEMS’ accredited institute after having registered with NBEMS as a FNB trainee and are completing their prescribed (as per letter of registration issued by NBEMS) training as FNB trainee as per the following schedule can undertake the FNB Exit Examination in the same sub-specialty subject to completion of training by the date mentioned below & submission of certificate to this effect.

Cut-off date is 31-08-2026 for completion of FNB Training towards eligibility for FNB Exit Examination - 2026

Submission of Training Completion Certificate indicating details of leave taken during FNB training for FNB trainees is an essential prerequisite. In case the candidate does not submit the training Completion certificate (as per applicable format given in Annexure III & IV) along with the application form, his/her application shall be rejected and fees forfeited.

Request for extension in cutoff date for completion of training for the purpose of eligibility determination for FNB Exit Examination shall not be considered.

Candidates who have completed their FNB training while applying for FNB Exit Examination shall be required to submit Final Training Completion Certificate (FTCC) as per format prescribed in Annexure - IV.

Candidates whose FNB training is ongoing while applying for FNB Exit Examination shall be required to submit Provisional Training Completion Certificate (PTCC) as per format in Annexure - III. The PTCC must confirm that the candidate would be able to complete his / her training by the prescribed cut-off, after taking into consideration all leave taken vis-a-vis the maximum permissible leave as per NBEMS leave rules and the required period of extension, if any. Such candidates are required to submit Final Training Completion Certificate (FTCC) as per format in Annexure - IV immediately on completion of their training. Such candidates shall be provisionally allowed to appear for FNB Exit Examination subject to completion of their FNB training by the prescribed cut-off date.

Candidates who submit their Provisional TCC with correct leave details projecting their training completion on/before the prescribed cut-off date for the examination, happen to avail more leave after applying for the examination due to some unforeseen reasons which might take their training beyond the prescribed cut-off date, shall NOT be declared INELIGIBLE for the examination.

• If such a candidate qualifies the theory and practical examination, his/her Provisional Certificate (PC) shall only be issued on completion of his/her FNB training and submission of Final TCC to this effect.

• However, candidates who at any stage are found to have misrepresented / failed to disclose the complete details of leave taken by them, in their Provisional TCC, shall be declared INELIGIBLE on failing to complete their training on / before the prescribed cut-off date for the examination. Candidature of such candidates for FNB Exit Examination shall stand cancelled and result, if any declared, shall be treated as null and void.

In terms of the NBEMS notice dated 26th November 2019 (published on NBEMS website , appearance in minimum required numbers of Formative Assessment Tests (FATs) during the FNB training shall be mandatory towards eligibility for appearing in FNB Exit Examination. This compulsory participation in FATs shall apply to candidates who have joined their training in or after July 2019 admission session.

Scheme of FNB Exit Examination:-

Theory Examination:

• The Theory examination comprises of one paper with maximum marks of 100.

• There are 10 short notes of 10 marks each in the Theory paper.

• Maximum time permitted is 3 hours.

• Practical Examination:

• Maximum marks: 300

• Comprises of Clinical Examination and viva.

Request for change in center of Examination will not be entertained, as the same is not permissible.

The candidate has to score a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate i.e. 200 out of total 400 marks (Theory & Practical) with at least 50% marks in theory examination to qualify in the Fellowship Exit Exam.

The Theory and Practical of Fellowship Exit Examination shall be conducted at the same examination center of the concerned specialty. Each candidate shall be individually informed by NBEMS regarding his / her examination center.

The list of Specialties in which candidates can undertake FNB Exit examination is mentioned at Annexure-II.

Date of Examination & Result:-

The date, time and venue of FNB Exit examination shall be intimated to all eligible candidates through their Online Exit Examination Portal (OEEP) account.

 NBEMS reserves its rights to allot a exam center anywhere in the country; the candidates shall make their own arrangement for travel / boarding etc. Requests for Change in center/date of examination are not entertained, as the same is not permissible. Candidates are required not to canvass with NBEMS for the same. However, in exceptional situations of High risk / advanced pregnancy, NBEMS considers requests for allocating practical centres in vicinity provided that such requests are made before announcement of practical centres and are duly supported with medical documents.

Such requests should be substantiated with relevant medical documents clearly mentioning the nature of risk, gestational age, EDD and other relevant findings duly signed by the treating obstetrician. Requests without substantive documents shall not be considered under any circumstances.

NBEMS shall only consider such requests subject to the availability of the examination centres in vicinity and other logistics. NBEMS reserves the right to allocate practical examination centers to candidates anywhere in India and the practical examination centers allotted shall be final and binding on the candidates, even if the requests are made as mentioned above.

Admit Card:

The admit card of the candidate shall be uploaded on their Online Exit Examination Portal (OEEP) Accounts at NBEMS’ website as and when the examination schedules are notified. Candidates are required to take COLOUR print out of their admit card from the website, paste their photograph at the designated place and appear at exam center along with one of the following original and valid / non-expired ID proof:

• PAN Card

• Driving License

• Voter ID

• Passport

• Aadhaar Card (with Photograph)

Entry of Candidates as per Timelines given in the Admit Cards:

Candidates are required to report at the ‘Reporting Counter’ of test venue as per time indicated in their admit cards. The exact entry point to the test centre (Reporting Counter) and the main gate of venue might be at a distance. To avoid unforeseen delay in reaching to the test centre entry point (Reporting Counter), candidates are advised to reach well in time and familiarise themselves with the exact point of the entry to test centre in the premises of the venue well in advance. The reporting counter will close 30 minutes prior to the test start time. Any delay in arrival to the test centre entry point (Reporting Counter) shall lead to denial of entry even if the candidate might have arrived to the premises of venue.

Candidates reporting late or beyond the prescribed time shall not be allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances. NBEMS shall not be responsible for any delayed arrival of the candidate in reaching the centre due to any reason.

Test Centre Location: Exact address and location of the test centres shall be indicated in the admit card. Candidates are advised to familiarise themselves with the test centre and reporting counter locations at least one day prior to the examination day and ensure that they report for the exam as per scheduled time only. It shall be the responsibility of the candidate to confirm the exact location of the test centre well in advance to avoid any delay in arrival.

No arrangement will be made at the centres for keeping any articles / items belonging to the candidates. In case any candidate is found in possession of any of the barred items inside the centre beyond the security check point, it will be considered as use of unfair means and action will be taken against the candidate in accordance with the relevant provisions. To avoid any hardship candidates are advised not to bring prohibited items along with them at the test Centre.

Please note that only the candidates who have been issued admit card will be allowed entry inside the examination centre premises subject to fulfilment of documentary requirements.

Friends or relatives accompanying the candidates will not be allowed entry in the examination centre premises under any circumstances and will not be allowed to contact the candidate while the examination process is ongoing.

Identity checks will be made upon arrival at the test centre to ensure that there are no unauthorized candidates appearing for the exam.

Candidates without original hard copy valid ID proof shall not be allowed to enter the examination premises. Photocopies of Govt. issued ID proofs shall not be accepted. Identity proof shown in DigiLocker shall also not be acceptable as candidates shall not be allowed to carry electronic devices inside the exam centre.

Unfair means case shall be registered against the candidates producing false/forged documents/ID Proofs

• Candidates will be compulsorily required to carry following items with them to the examination lab:

• COLOUR print out of the Admit Card

• Govt issued photo identification proof (Voter ID / PAN Card / Aadhaar Card / Passport / Driving License) in ORIGINAL hard copy

• UDID issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming scribe / extra-time as per provisions of the RPwD Act, 2016.

Candidates should carefully read the admit card to check which items are permitted inside the examination centers.

• Frisking (HHMD & Body Pat) can be done at entry to test centre (secure zone) premises.

• Any candidate who is found to be under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs shall be denied entry to the examination premises or expelled from the examination, if detected during exam / before exam.

• Any candidate found to be in possession of firearms or weapons during the examination shall be denied entry.

• Any suspicious or disruptive behaviour on part of the candidate may lead to cancellation of candidature. For any issues during the exam, candidate may raise his or her hand to notify Invigilator.

• NBEMS may, if deemed necessary, also capture photographs of candidates at the examination center on the day of the examination; additionally, manual attendance, accompanied by signatures and/or thumb impressions, will be recorded on the day of the examination.

• Candidates are required to keep their admit card and photo identification with them at all times during the conduct of examination.

• Should you need to carry any medicine or a medical assistance device at the exam centre, please carry supportive medical documents. In absence of such documents, you shall not be permitted to carry such devices/ prosthesis/ medicine etc. Should you require any assistance of scribe, please seek prior approval of NBEMS by way of submitting a query at NBEMS Communication Web Portal along with documents in support as per provisions of RPwD Act, 2016. Information about requirement of Scribe and / or Compensatory time needs to be mentioned in application form also. In absence of prior approval of NBEMS, you shall not be allowed to accompany a scribe with you inside the exam centre.

Declaration of FNB Exit Examination Result:

• FNB Exit is a qualifying examination.

• Results of FNB Exit Examination are declared as PASS / FAIL. In case, the applicant candidate is provisionally eligible on date of declaration of result his/her result shall be withheld & shall be declared only upon status being eligible, on receipt of required documents by the prescribed cut-off date.

• The details of marks obtained / grading in the Examination will be provided to all the candidates. Procedure for obtaining question wise marks can be seen at NBE website (Notice dt. 20.04.10, 14.12.11).

• There will be no re-evaluation or rechecking / re-totaling of answer sheets. Requests for re-evaluation/re-totaling shall not be entertained.

• Results can be seen on NBEMS website 

Provisional Certificate (PC): Candidates successful in the practical examination are issued a Provisional Certificate of Passing FNB Final Examination. Provisional Certificates issued to qualified candidates shall be valid till the FNB Degree certificates are conferred upon them in the convocation of NBEMS for all purposes, including but not limited to, employment, registration with state medical councils, higher education etc.

The PC issued by NBEMS are bilingual with signed document being issued in the Hindi Language and its English translation is printed overleaf. An authenticate PC issued on NBEMS letter head shall bear the signatures of issuing authority and a dispatch number. PC issued to qualified candidates of FNB Exit Examination shall also bear an embossed stamp of NBEMS.

Under normal circumstances the certificates of passing certificate (PC) are issued to the candidates within four weeks of declaration of results, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, this period may vary.

• Duplicate provisional certificate: For issuing a duplicate provisional pass certificate, submit a request letter stating reasons to issue a duplicate certificate, copy of NCR lodged with police authorities clearly mentioning the loss/non-receipt of certificate, affidavit in support of application (attested by public notary/oath commissioner/ judicial magistrate), fee** of ₹ 1,000/- + GST@18% for document up to preceding 3 years and ₹ 2,000/- + GST@18% for documents more than 3 years old. The fee can be paid online through NBEMS website.

• Candidates are advised not to canvass or approach NBEMS for handing over the passing certificate.

• Academic Transcripts: Academic transcript of a candidate is released on receipt of a request directly from the concerned authority / employer / educational institution, subject to the availability of complete educational records with NBEMS related to FNB training.

Candidates are required to furnish copy of PC issued by NBEMS, the Final Training Completion Certificate (FTCC) issued by the training institution and the letter of registration issued by NBEMS for issuance of transcript. The required documents can be submitted by candidates through Communication Web Portal (CWP)^^ of NBEMS to process their transcripts.

The transcripts are either provided directly to the concerned authority / employer / educational institutions or provided to the candidate in a duly sealed envelope to be handed over to concerned authority/ employer / educational institutions. No fee is charged for issuance of academic transcripts except for the postal charges (for sending the transcript outside India), if required. Academic transcripts are not released on request of candidates.

• Attempt Certificate: NBEMS issues attempt certificates to qualified candidates on receipt of a request from Communication Web Portal with supportive documents. Candidates are required to furnish copy of PPC issued by NBEMS, the Final Training Completion Certificate issued by the training institution and the letter of registration issued by NBEMS to them along with the document confirming where the said attempt certificate is required to be furnished. No fee is charged for issuance of attempt certificate.

• Verification of Credentials: NBEMS verifies the credentials (PC / Degree Certificate etc.) issued to qualified candidates on receipt of a request from the concerned authority / employer / educational institutions. For any such verification, the candidate concerned is required to pay a verification fee to NBEMS of ₹ 2,000/- (plus GST@18%) through online portal for fee payment and a receipt so generated needs to be shared with NBEMS through its Communication Web Portal. The outcome of verification shall be communicated by NBEMS to the authority / employer / educational institution concerned directly.

Candidates are advised not to canvass for any such third-party verifications of their credentials.

Award of FNB Qualification certificates:-

• Candidates who have qualified FNB Exit Examination shall be conferred with FNB qualification in the sub-specialty concerned on enrolment for the convocation.

• NBEMS shall be conferring FNB qualification subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria at the Convocation Ceremony. Details for the convocation are announced separately at NBEMS website.
