NEET 2020: #ResignNishankPokhriyal trends on twitter
New Delhi: With the Central government remaining firm on its stand on holding NEET 2020 for MBBS entrance in the country as scheduled, students and families have now taken to twitter to show their objections.
The students, parents as well as activists are now demanding the resignation of Union education Minister Nishank Pokhriyal with hashtag #ResignNishankPokhriyal gaining momentum.
The students have been raising voice seeking postponement of the MBBS entrance exam since the announcement of the NEET 2020 exam date which has been scheduled for September 13th.
Yesterday, hearts of lakhs of NEET 2020 aspirants had started pounding ever since Subramanium Swami tweeted that an emergency meeting is underway to decide the fate of conduction of the MBBS entrance exam this year. Seeking primary intervention, the minister had also written an urgent letter to the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi.
"There is widespread desperation amongst the youth since this exam is make or break for them and they have to take it fully prepared," Swamy said in the letter to Modi, adding that the required infrastructure for conducting these exams (amid the pandemic) is also not in place in the country. "I request you to please inform the Ministry of Education that these exams can be conducted after Deepavali. I have spoken to Ramesh Pokhriyal and he was sympathetic to my suggestion but naturally since this would require your concurrence, hence I am writing this urgent letter to you. Please direct the Ministry of Education delay these examinations till after Deepavali," he said in the letter to the prime minister, quotes PTI.
