NEET Counselling: MCC lists designated disability centres to issue certificates to PWD candidates

New Delhi: Through a recent notice, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has listed the disabilities and the Designated Centres to issue Disability Certificate to PWD candidates for NEET Counselling 2020 with respect to MBBS and BDS admissions this academic year.

As the UG Counselling for the current academic year 2020-21 is scheduled to start from 27th October 2020 as per schedule uploaded on MCC website, the candidates will be approaching Disability Centres designated by MCC of DGHS (as per the list attached below) across India to obtain Disability Certificate after getting their disability assessed at the centre in order to avail the benefit of 5% PwD reservation in medical courses.

The MCC has directed these centres to arrange for issuing of Disability Certificates for 21 Benchmark Disabilities given under Rights of Persons with Disability Act 2016 as per MCI's guidelines, so that inconvenience is not caused to the candidates, desiring to avail the benefit of PwD reservation. The format of Disability has been enclosed below.

Moreover, the MCC has further listed the Disabilities for which the designated MCC Disability Centre are capable of issuing Certificate as per MCI Guidelines

In reference to Letter No. U-11011/ 04/ 2020- MEC dated 25th Sept., 2020 issued by MCC clarification had been sought from the Disability Centres asking them to identify Disabilities for which they are capable of issuing Certificate as per MCI Guidelines
The Designated Disability Centres have identified disabilities for which they can issue disability certificates as enclosed below. This is for the information/ knowledge/ benefit of the candidates so that they may not have to be redirected to some other centre by the institute and to avoid undue inconvenience to candidates.
AIIMS, Nagpur has been added in the List of Designated Disability Centres making the number of centres as 12.
