New Delhi: In a letter directed to the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), the Medical Counselling Committee has made it clear that the issue of NEET Super Specialty Counselling solely depends on the decision of the Supreme Court.

"MCC, DGHS is strictly adhering to the order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court & cannot take any action until any further order is received from the Hon'ble Supreme Court," MCC mentioned in the letter.

However, in the letter, MCC has assured the doctors that both the Committee along with DGHS has begun the backend preparation for conducting the NEET SS counselling.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that upset over the continuous delay in the NEET-SS 2021 counselling, FAIMA had written to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya seeking his interference for expediting the counselling process.

Even though the NEET-SS 2021 examination was scheduled to take place in mid-November 2021, it got rescheduled for the 10th of January 2022 due to a court case concerning the examination scheme.

Finally, the exam took place in January and the results also got published on 31.01.2022. However, even after the publication of results the counselling process got suspended indefinitely because of another case that is pending against NEET SS-2021 in the Supreme Court.

The pending court case is regarding the 50 per cent In-Service reservation in the NEET-SS seats. While the Madras HC has upheld the reservation, the matter has now been challenged before the Apex Court, leading towards the deferment of the counseling process.

Recently, when the FAIMA had met the Health Ministry officials regarding the matter, they were assured regarding a speedy solution for this issue.

However, writing to FAIMA, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has now clarified that nothing can be done without any directions from the Supreme Court.

"It is hereby informed to you that, the examination for Super Specialty was conducted on 10.01.2022 & the result was declared on 31.01.2022. As, the counselling schedule for SS Counselling has not been published, because until present no opinion is expressed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. However, the Hon'ble Bench is likely to take up the matter on 04.03.2022. In addition, it is pertinent to mention that MCC, DGHS has begun the backend preparation for conducting SS Counselling as & when direct by the Hon'ble Supreme Court," read the letter.

So, now the best bet for the aspirants is that the top court reaches a decision regarding the issue today and the counselling process starts immediately.
