NEET SS 2021 Counselling: Health Ministry Assures Speedy Solution
New Delhi: The wait for the NEET-SS Counselling might soon be over as the doctors under the umbrella of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) met the health ministry officials again requesting to expedite the matter and they have been assured by the Union Ministry officials with a speedy solution.
The doctors had submitted their representation before the Union Health Ministry a couple of days ago and recently they met the officials again urging to look at the matter on a priority basis.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the upset over the continuous delay in the NEET-SS 2021 counselling, FAIMA had written to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya seeking his interference for expediting the counselling process.
In fact, expressing their concern over the anguish and unrest among the super-specialists, the association had dropped a hint of agitation in the letter if the problem doesn't get sorted soon.

As per the previous schedule, the NEET-SS 2021 examination was scheduled to take place in mid-November 2021. However, it was rescheduled for the 10th of January 2021 due to a court case that concerned the examination scheme. Finally, the exam took place in January and the results were also published on January 31, 2022. However, even after the publication of results the counselling process got suspended indefinitely because of another case that is pending against NEET SS-2021 in the Supreme Court.
The matter mainly concerns the 50 percent In-service reservation in the NEET-SS seats. While the Madras HC has upheld the reservation, the matter has now been challenged before the Apex Court and as a result, the counselling process has come to a halt.
"Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) stand with the overworked and stressed-out residents of super specialization batches and also support the aspiring candidates of NEET-SS 2021 who have already qualified NEET SS-2021 with good ranks and awaiting admission to their respective super specialization courses. Our concern is this sight of anguish and unrest among super specialists, and therefore we call the concerned authorities to expedite the NEET SS 2021 counselling process so that an adequate workforce is available to deal with any form of health care crisis effectively," FAIMA had earlier mentioned in its letter.
Recently, the association met the Health Ministry officials again and they have been assured by the Health Ministry for a speedy solution regarding the issue.

While commenting on the matter, Dr Rohan Krishnan, the President of FAIMA, told Medical Dialogues, "Since the matter is subjudice, everything has to be done in accordance with the Honourable Supreme Court. The chairman of MCC acknowledged the matter and assured us for a solution regarding the matter at the earliest."
"Currently, the Ministry is waiting for the Supreme Court hearing and they might request the top court to give its nod for commencing this year's counselling with the existing rules. We are hoping that the counselling will start from the first week of March," he added.
