NMC approves 5 Emergency Medicine Seats at MGM Indore
Indore: The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently approved five postgraduate medical seats in the emergency medicine department of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGM), Indore.
Bringing good news to the postgraduate medical aspirants in Madhya Pradesh, these new PG Emergency Medicine seats will be available for admission for the academic session 2023-2024.
With this, MGM Indore has now become the first government-run medical college in the State for getting the NMC nod for commencing the Emergency Medicine course. Already, the NMC board has issued the letter of intent to the Dean of MGM Medical College.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the college had applied to the NMC for an increase of 21 PG medical seats including seats in the Emergency medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR).

Back in 2020, NMC had specified that all medical colleges offering MBBS courses will have to have a Department of Emergency Medicine.
As per the latest media report by the Times of India, MGM Indore had also started preparations for getting the seats in the Emergency Medicine Department about a year ago and now the NMC board has issued the Letter of Intent for five PG medical seats in the Emergency Medicine Department.
The dean of MGMMC, Dr Sanjay Dixit informed the daily that NMC has issued its approval on the basis of the report submitted by the assessor, who inspected the college a few days ago.
Now, issuing the Letter of Intent, the apex medical education regulatory body NMC has asked the college to submit the required documents including the details of the faculty members, staff, and equipment along with other details.
Dr Dixit mentioned that the college will submit the documents at the earliest for obtaining the letter of permission from NMC. “We have already completed recruitment and other requirements for the same. We have become the first government medical college in the state to get the permission for the same,” he added.
