NMC nod to 150 MBBS Seats to private medical college in Kancheepuram

Chennai: Another 150 MBBS seats have now been added to the seat matrix of Tamil Nadu since the National Medical Commission has given its approval for a new self-financing medical college, PSP Medical College and Research Institute in Kancheepuram.
With the NMC nod for this new medical college, which will be affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, the total number of MBBS seats in Tamil Nadu will increase further by 150 MBBS seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Health Ministry had shared the data regarding the number of MBBS and PG medical seats available in the country. As per the Health Ministry's data, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 11,275 MBBS seats in the country.
The State of Tamil Nadu has altogether 72 medical colleges including 37 state-run, one centrally-run AIIMS, Madurai, 20 self-financing and12 deemed universities.
