Indian Nursing Council Launches Doctorate in Nursing Practice Program
New Delhi- In pursuance of the MoU between the Indian Nursing Council & University of Houston, the Indian Nursing Council (INC) has recently launched a new nursing program in India. The announcement has been made by the INC through a notification.
As per the notification, the new Nursing Program which was recently launched in India by the INC is named the Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. The program was launched on 21st October 2024 & 23rd October 2024.
The DNP program was launched Following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Nursing Council and the University of Houston, the Indian Nursing Council initiated the Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) program on a pilot basis in two universities i.e. Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS), Navi Mumbai & Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed to be University (KIMSDU) in India.
The launch was attended by Trustees, Senior Administration and eminent Medical Faculty, Principals of Nursing Colleges, NPCC Staff, and Nursing Students. Dr. T Dileep Kumar, President, INC, Dr. Jogendra Sharma, Vice President, INC, Lt. Col (Dr.) Sarvjeet Kaur, Secretary, INC, Mrs K S Bharti, Sr. Consultant, INC, Dr. Punitha Ezhilarasu, Sr. Consultant, INC & Dr. Premila Lee also attended the launch.
Along with them, Dr Beena Joseph, DNP & Dr Shainy Varghese, Faculty from the University of Houston came to India to be part of this momentous launch and shared experience related to the DNP education and Evidence-based practice (EBP) project. Meanwhile, in the launch, various key aspects of the DNP program were also discussed such as INC guidelines to start the DNP program, DNP curriculum & Quality improvement methods.
Furthermore, the Indian Nursing Council organised a one-day workshop in each university namely MGMIHS and KIMSDU on orientation for the DNP programme in India on a pilot basis. At the same time, some of the pictures from the launch have also been shared by the INC along with the notification.
