PGIMER Begins Online Application Process For MSc Nursing Courses July 2023 Session

Chandigarh: The online application process for MSc Nursing Courses for July 2023 Session (Batch - 2023-25) has begun. Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) announces this through a written notice.

Detail schedule –

1. Application form closes on - 17.05.2023

2. Computer-Based Entrance Test - 03.06.2023 (Saturday)

3. Expected date of declaration of result - 13.06.2023

4. Counselling (tentative date) - 21.06.2023 at 2.00 PM

Application fee -

1. SC / ST Category: Rs.1200/- + Transaction Charges as applicable

2. For all other categories: Rs.1500/- + Transaction Charges as applicable.

3. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from fee payment.

All candidates must deposit the above fees through the online payment gateway available at MSc Nursing application portal w.e.f. 27.04.2023 to 17.05.2023.

The candidates seeking admission to the entrance test must submit their application in the prescribed format available online with the prospectus on www.pgimer.edu.in. Documents to be attached/uploaded with registration slips are enclosed in the notice below.

All candidates should read the prospectus and instructions carefully before starting online registration and ensure no column is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence/request for reconsideration will be entertained. They should download and take a print of the application form. They should retain a copy of the application form till the completion of the admission process.

After selecting the online registration, fill in the mandatory details asked for and deposit the prescribed fee through Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking. After submitting fees, fill in the required information step by step. Follow the instructions carefully.

All candidates are required to ensure that Photo / Signature are uploaded according to the instructions provided in the prospectus. Failure to do so may result in rejection of their application. Successful online registration will be acknowledged at the candidate's Registered Email ID. The registration form will remain under review regarding uploaded images and eligibility.

Admit cards for accepted registration forms will only be uploaded on the website. If the status of the registration form or admit card is not available on the website, the candidates should immediately write an email to the Registrar, PGIMER, Chandigarh registrar@pgimer.edu.in along with full particulars of the Registration Form (with detail of registration No., application No. , Name and Father's name and course applied etc.).

Duration of the course –

The duration of the MSc Nursing course is of two academic years. Admission to M.Sc. A nursing course is made once a year. The session shall commence on 16th July each year.

Eligibility –

1. Candidates must have either a BSc Nursing (4 yrs) / BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) from an Institution recognized by the concerned State Nursing Registration Council with at least 55% marks in aggregate.

2. Should have a minimum of one year of work experience* after registration as Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife by 17th May 2023 (the last date for submission of applications) in bed-side nursing in a minimum of 100 bedded capacity hospital (for private hospitals only) or Public Health Nursing or in Nursing Educational Institutions recognized by the State(s) Nursing Council after obtaining BSc Nursing (4 years) or before and after Post-Basic BSc Nursing. The experience certificate in this regard must be on the hospital's letterhead. It should indicate the hospital's bed capacity in terms of the number of beds and should be approved by State / Central Govt. (s), failing which experience will not be considered.

3. Should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife as approved by State Nursing Council or substitute registration for male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.

Other eligibility conditions & requirements for admission -

Foreign national candidates -

1. Foreign nationals should fill in the prescribed application form online.

2. Candidates must take the printout of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.

3. The online application form will be treated as an advance copy.

4. However, the application of such candidates will be processed after receiving the same through diplomatic channels. These candidates are also required to appear in the entrance examination along with other candidates. The applications should reach by 26.05.2023.

In-Service candidates of nursing division or nine it-self -

1. In-service candidates of PGIMER, Chandigarh, are advised to first seek NOC from the concerned Establishment (MS office or Main Establishment) and then fill out their online applications in their interest for appearing in the Entrance test for the said course. Candidates must take the printout of the filled online application form and submit it to the office of Principal, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh, within one month of the last closing date of the application form, i.e., by 01.06.2023 along with NOC / necessary documents through their employer. Candidates are also required to retain a copy of the same with them as well.

2. The online application form will be treated as an advance copy.

3. Those candidates who are likely to complete the required experience by the last date of submission of the online application must bring the experience certificate at the time of counseling.

4. No request for an extension to submit the experience certificate shall be entertained.

In-Service candidates (other than PGIMER / outside candidate) -

1. All in-service candidates (other than of PGIMER), if willing to apply as sponsored / study leave/ other service-based applications to pursue the MSc (N) at NINE, then are instructed to initiate this action for taking NOC from their cadre controlling authority/employer in advance without waiting for last date of applying, examination date or of counseling date.

2. They must submit their NOC issued by uploading in their online format while applying, failing which, their application will be rejected outright & no correspondence will be entertained.

3. Any other alternative document uploaded in lieu of NOC issued by the competent authority would cancel the application & no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.

4. Those candidates likely to complete the required experience by the last date of submission of the online application must bring the experience certificate at the time of counseling. No request for an extension to submit the experience certificate shall be entertained.

Reservation to PwBD candidates is given horizontally and per Govt. of India guidelines, revised occasionally. The number of seats mentioned for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) will be adjusted against the category to which they belong. Candidates having Color blindness are eligible, provided that their color blindness can be corrected with contact lenses and spectacles worn by such candidates.

Further, PGIMER has announced that the specialty shall be offered to the candidates as per the merit list of the entrance test. The specialty will be changed only during counseling based on merit in the entrance test—specialties for the M.Sc. Nursing in Medical-Surgical Nursing in any one of the above sub-specialties shall be opted for by the candidate by 31st August 2023.

In the last / mop-up round of counseling/spot counseling, the unfilled seats of reserved categories (if any) will be de-reserved and offered in order of merit to available eligible candidates irrespective of the category (only upon the non-availability of eligible candidates of reserved categories), without any reduction of eligibility criteria/qualifying marks.

Method of Cut-Off

Declaration of result –

The final result for MSc Nursing will only be displayed on the PGI website at www.pgimer.edu.in. No Individual result of candidates will be informed by telephone, and the Academic Section/NINE will entertain no such telephonic calls in this regard.

Merit list –

A merit list of candidates is prepared based on marks obtained in the online entrance examination. A merit list is prepared for each category of candidates viz.

1. General

2. Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Communities

3. Persons with Benchmark Disability

4. PGI In services candidates

Seats for these categories are not interchangeable. However, PwBD candidates selected under the PwBD category will consume the seat of their category, like GEN/SC/ST/OBC.

Criteria for selection –

The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance tests.

An overall merit list will be prepared based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the entrance examination (irrespective of their category). Candidates of various categories who secure percentile in the theory examination, as mentioned against each category, will qualify for admission –

1. General category: 50th percentile

2. SC/ST/OBC & PwBD: 45th percentile

The Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh's decision shall be final regarding selection.

If two or more candidates obtain equal percentile in the entrance examination for admission to the MSc Nursing course, then their inter-se-merit for admission to the course shall be determined based on the following –

1. A candidate who has made more attempts to pass the qualifying exam (BSc Nursing) will rank junior to a candidate who has made fewer attempts.

2. If the attempts to pass the qualifying exam (BSc Nursing) are also the same, then a candidate with higher marks in the said examination (BSc Nursing) will rank senior to a candidate with lower marks.

3. If the attempts made in passing the said examinations and the marks obtained are also the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank senior to the candidate who is junior in age.

Counseling –

1. Candidates will be invited for physical counseling at PGIMER, Chandigarh, in order of merit in the respective merit lists based on their marks in the entrance examination.

2. The scrutiny committee will do document verification of such candidates; hence, original documents of the candidates will be required on the day of counseling.

3. The number of candidates to be called for the interview will be three times the total number of seats to be filled in each category from candidates who fulfill the cut-off points.

4. It is compulsory that these candidates attend the interview/counseling.

5. Date of counseling will be notified on the PGIMER website.

Admission –

1. Selected candidates during counseling should pay the fee etc., on the spot failing which, their selection will be treated as canceled, and a seat will be offered to the candidate next on the waiting list in order of merit. Therefore, getting their DD / Banker Cheque ready while attending the counseling is advised in favor of "DIRECTOR, PGIMER, Chandigarh," as per the amount notified in the prospectus.

2. Admission to the MSc Nursing course will close on 31.07.2023.

Waiting list –

The seats, if available, shall be offered to the candidates on merit. The candidates on the waiting list will attend the counseling in the office of the Principal, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh, on the dates & times to be announced on the day of 1st counseling or as notified on the PGIMER website. No separate correspondence shall be made.

Joining time –

Selected candidates must join their course on the date intimated to them at the time of selection or communicated to them in the admission letter. No extension in joining shall be granted. The selection of those candidates who fail to join by the stipulated date shall automatically stand canceled, and no correspondence shall be entertained. The institute takes no responsibility for intimating the cancellation of seats.

The joining of in-service candidates for the MSc Nursing course shall be accepted along with relieving certificate from their employer.

Medical examination –

Medical fitness will be a pre-condition for registration for all candidates. The candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board constituted by the PGIMER to determine their medical fitness.

The matter of fee revision is under examination by a committee constituted by the institute. The recommendation would apply to all existing students and likely to join the students at NINE in accordance with the approval of the competent authority.

The penalty amount of Rs.50000 will be recovered from students who will be leaving the studies/course after joining and completing their course after the last counseling.

Apart from the above, the Course fee/security deposit/any amount under any nomenclature of any kind would not be refunded after leaving the course between joining it and before completing their studies.
