Union Health Minister Inaugurates Nursing College and Hostel in Kupwara

Jammu: In a virtual ceremony, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, marked a momentous occasion by laying the foundation stone for a new Nursing College and Nursing Hostel in Handwara, Kupwara.
The event, conducted through video conferencing, showcased the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities and medical education infrastructure in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Health Ministry, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appreciated the efforts made to improve the health facilities in the region. The inauguration of the Nursing College is poised to significantly contribute to the development of medical education infrastructure and overall healthcare services in the border district of Kupwara, reports

Lt. Governor Sinha highlighted the remarkable strides in improving healthcare accessibility in Jammu and Kashmir, citing the addition of approximately 4500 seats in MBBS, PG, and Nursing education over the past four years. He reiterated the administration's commitment to delivering high-quality health services to citizens and emphasized on developing and deploying modern health technologies for future care. The Handwara Nursing College project is set to be completed within four working seasons, promising to bolster healthcare services in the region.

In addition to this, the Union Health Minister inaugurated the new building of the National Dental Commission and laid the foundation stone for three Nursing Colleges in Andhra Pradesh. The event also witnessed the launch of the National Dental Register, further emphasizing the government's dedication to advancing dental healthcare, reports the daily. 

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura; Dr. Dibyendu Mazumdar, President of the Dental Council of India; and Apurva Chandra, Union Secretary of Health and Family Welfare. Irfan Sultan Panditpori, Chairman of the District Development Council Kupwara, along with the Principal, doctors, and medical staff of the Government Medical College Handwara, actively participated through virtual mode, signifying a collaborative effort towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure across regions.
