Bhopal Adds New Health Certificate Center

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh health authorities have expanded the list of centres authorised to issue the mandatory health fitness certificate for the annual Amarnath Yatra, with six doctors from Chirayu Medical College now designated to provide the certification.

Alongside JP Hospital, pilgrims in Bhopal can now obtain the required certificate from Chirayu Medical College, a move expected to ease the certification process and reduce pressure on government healthcare facilities.

The annual Amarnath Yatra, a significant pilgrimage for devotees of Lord Shiva, will commence on July 3, 2025, and conclude on August 9, 2025, as per the official announcement by the Amarnath Shrine Board.

In preparation for the journey, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has made it mandatory for all pilgrims to carry a medical fitness certificate due to the physically demanding route, high altitude, low oxygen levels, and unpredictable weather conditions, Free Press Journal reports.

To streamline the process, the Directorate of Public Health and Medical Education has authorised six specialist doctors from Chirayu Medical College to conduct thorough medical check-ups and issue fitness certificates. The approved doctors are:

  • Dr. Shweta
  • Dr. Shakti Singh Rajput
  • Dr. Ryan Singh
  • Dr. Rajat
  • Dr. Ayush Malik
  • Dr. Virendra Kumar Dubey (CMO, MD General Medicine)

The doctors will assess the pilgrim’s health by examining several key factors, such as their ability to tolerate high altitudes and low oxygen levels, the presence of any heart-related conditions, and any chronic illnesses like asthma, high blood pressure, or COPD.

Pilgrims seeking the health certificate must present the following:

  • Aadhaar card
  • Two passport-sized photographs
  • Previous medical reports

Authorities have emphasised that the doctor's name and official registration number must be clearly mentioned on the health certificate. The absence of a valid certificate will result in the denial of the Yatra travel permit, which is compulsory for participation. By including private institutions like Chirayu Medical College, the administration hopes to make the process more accessible and efficient.
