Delhi PWD plans to set up Health project Division to expedite healthcare projects
New Delhi: The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD), as part of their efforts to boost the work of health-related projects, has decided to establish a new division called 'Health project Division,' which is to be headed by the chief engineer (health) at his level.
An office order was issued on 3rd January 2023 with regard to the same, which stated, "The Competent Authority has decided to open a new division against the merger of Other Project division-1 and Other Project division-2 of PWD."
The order, which was issued with the approval of the Engineer-in-Chief of PWD, further stated, "The name of new division will be "Health Project division" under the Health Maintenance Zone. The location of the new division will be decided by the chief engineer (health) at his level. The sanctioned strength of the new division will be clarified later."
The department would be allotted new land to set up the health division. Speaking to the Indian Express, a senior PWD official said, "The name of the new division will be the Health Project division under the Health Maintenance Zone. The new division is being set up against the merging of Other Project division-1 and Other Project division-2. The department had issued another circular the same day which reported on the merging of the two divisions with a new name, "Other Project Division".
The department had also sanctioned the staff and officials for the merged division, to which around 26 staff would be shifted including executive engineer, assistant engineer, junior engineer and clerk.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is the premier agency of the Government of Delhi which is engaged in planning, designing, construction and maintenance of Government assets in the field of environment and infrastructure development. They take up the construction of new hospitals and mohalla clinics.
