12 MBBS doctors to become part of Punjab Assembly
Chandigarh: A total number of 12 MBBS doctors are all set to enter the Punjab assembly as elected MLAs. Among these 12 doctors, nine are associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), one each from Shiromani Akali Da (SAD), Congress, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Most of these doctors contested in the elections for the first time.
From the AAP, doctors who won the election are Dr Kashmir Singh Sohal from Taran Tarn, Dr Charanjit Singh from Chamkaur Sahib, Dr Inderbir Nijjer from Amritsar East, Dr Baljit Kaur from Malout, Dr Vijay Singla from Mansa, Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora from Moga, Dr Ravjot Singh from Sham Chaurasi and Dr Balbir Singh from Patiala Rural, adds Hindustan Times.
One doctor Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal made his entry to the assembly with ticket from Congress, while Dr. Nachhatar Pal won with BSP ticket from Nawanshahr, and Dr. Shukwinder Kumar Sukhi was elected with SAD ticket from Banga constituency.
As per the latest media report by Live Mint, AAP won the Punjab polls by getting a three-fourths majority. It secured 92 seats out of the 117-member assembly.
