12 MBBS doctors to become part of Punjab Assembly

This year's result has been even more unprecedented as a total number of 12 MBBS doctors have entered the Punjab Vidhan Sabha as elected MLAs.

Referring to the inclusion of doctors in the politics and assembly, a resident of Moga told Hindustan Times, "It is good for Punjab as the educated people are participating in politics and also winning the elections. As such numbers of doctors have reached the Punjab assembly, now we are hoping that they may keep the health sector a priority and work to improve the health facilities in the state."

Such a big inclusion of medical professionals in politics has also been appreciated by the members of the medical fraternity. While sharing his opinion on the matter, Dr. Rohan Krishnan, the president of FAIMA doctors' association applauded the fact and told Medical Dialogues, "I think it is very appreciable that many doctors are joining politics and are going through electoral process. When these doctors will become the policy makers, they will have a better understanding of the demands of the public, especially the patients. They will also be able to contribute so make the healthcare system in India much better and improved. Especially the medical services and facilities needs much more number of people belonging to the same field so that they can participate in the policy making process."
