4 arrested for burglary at Ludhiana doctor's house

Ludhiana: In a shocking incident, a group of women rag pickers allegedly broke into the residence of a city-based doctor and stole imported liquor, perfumes, purses, and video games. The burglary took place while the house, located in a Ludhiana locality, was unoccupied and undergoing renovation. 

Acting promptly on a complaint, the Ludhiana police have arrested four of the six accused, all of whom are residents of the Prem Nagar slum in Mullanpur. Two other accused remain at large.

The case came to light on the morning of October 7, when Gursharan Singh, a resident of Malerkotla and the caretaker of the doctor’s house, visited the premises.

According to Gursharan Singh,  he routinely visits the property to oversee the renovation work. On October 6, Singh said he locked the premises after his inspection. However, on returning the next morning, he found a cupboard in one of the rooms broken open and several valuable items missing. He immediately alerted the doctor and reported the incident to the police.

He further added that all six accused have been identified. So far, four have been arrested, and two liquor bottles and two purses have been recovered from their possession by the police. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining two women and recover the rest of the stolen goods.
