Doctor Suicide

Alwar: In a shocking turn of events, a renowned psychiatrist from Alwar, Rajasthan, known for helping countless patients struggling with suicidal thoughts, allegedly ended his own life due to prolonged mental stress. The 40-year-old doctor, director of Vishwas Hospital in the Sahab Johra area, was found hanging at his residence in Gandhi Nagar on Friday morning.

Though the exact reason behind the suicide is still under investigation by police, the doctor's brother has claimed that years of mental harassment and a prolonged marital dispute reportedly pushed him to take this extreme step.

He alleged that his brother's wife, along with her family, had been mentally torturing him for several years. He said that his brother had spoken to him the day before the incident and had expressed feeling deeply troubled and broken.

Further, he alleged that his brother's wife had filed about 18 false cases against his brother in the past years, which included serious charges like sexual abuse, rape, POCSO, assault and fraud. He claimed that the motive behind these allegations was to pressure the doctor into transferring ownership of a property in Alwar.

The deceased, originally from Khairthal, was a highly respected doctor in the medical community. In 2021, he was honoured with the "Best Consultant Psychiatrist in Rajasthan" award at the National Health Care Achievement Awards, and patients trusted him deeply, especially for counselling those suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts.

The incident came to light when he did not arrive at the hospital as usual in the morning. When he didn’t answer calls, some staff members went to his home around 11 am. There, they found him hanging from a rope made from his bed, tied to a ceiling hook. The door to his room was partly open.

The staff then immediately informed his brother, who called the police. After police reached the location, they conducted a preliminary investigation and sent his body for a postmortem, which confirmed death due to suffocation.

It has been reported that people close to him describe him as a simple and kind-hearted person with a strong grip on his profession. His sudden death has left the medical community in deep shock.

According to a latest media report by Patrika, the deceased was married to his wife in 2013, however, there was a dispute going on between them for the last several years. The couple had filed multiple police complaints against each other.

The deceased brother said, had been living separately since October 1, 2023, following a long-standing marital dispute. She had been living with their two children, a 10-year-old son and a 2.5-year-old daughter.

In November 2024, the doctor filed for divorce and sought custody of his son. The house where Seema was living is reportedly in the name of the doctor's brother, and the court had ordered it to be vacated earlier this year.

In 2021, the doctor's wife had accused him of fraud, claiming that he snatched her mobile and transferred Rs 32 lakh from her bank account to the accounts of his brother and relatives. At the same time, the doctor had accused his wife and her brother of usurping the house of Scheme-2 and assaulting him. Both cases are still under investigation.

After the doctor's death, the family has filed a case against his wife and her family members. They have demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the cases filed against him and urged authorities to take strict action against the culprits.
