5 ESI doctors among 9 staff suspended for dereliction of duty
Kakinada: Nine staff members, including five doctors, at the ESIC hospital in Rajahmundry, were suspended on Monday due to negligence in their duties. The action was taken following a surprise visit by the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Labour Vasamsetti Subhash, who found the staff absent during duty hours.
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Labour Vasamsetti Subhash was impatient on seeing that the duty doctors and staff were absent during his surprise visit to the ESIC hospital at Rajahmundry on Monday and ordered disciplinary action against the erring staff.
As a prompt follow-up action, the AP insurance medical services director issued orders on Tuesday placing under suspension five doctors and four office staff with immediate effect, news agency UNI reported.
The minister found that the doctors and staff were negligent in duties and leaving the hospital after signing the attendance register.

The minister was furious over the situation and issued instructions then and there itself for stringent action against the erring staff.
The ESIC Director informed the minister’s office of the action taken, making it clear that further detailed inquiry would be conducted against these suspended doctors and staff, reports UNI.
As per the media report in Hans India, the director appealed to the doctors and the hospital staff to strive hard for the welfare of the beneficiaries.
