950 Civil Assistant Surgeons recruited in Telanagana

Hyderabad: With an aim to improve the government healthcare sector in Telangana, the Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB) has recruited 950 senior doctors for the posts of Civil Assistant Surgeons (CAS) in the state. 

The board has completed the recruitment process and would provide them with the postings in the upcoming days.

Out of the total 950 doctors, 734 have been recruited for the Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare (DPH), 209 have been recruited for hospitals attached to TS Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP), and seven doctors have been recruited for the Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), Narayanguda. 

The notice related to the selection list for CAS recruitment released by MHSRB on 19th December 2022 states, "On the basis of the points obtained based on the MBBS/FMGE marks and weightage points for contract/outsourced service in state government institutions/ programmes/ schemes and subsequent certificate verification held from 22.11.2022 at Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare, Vengalraonagar, Hyderabad for Direct Recruitment (General) to the post of Civil Assistant Surgeons, 950 candidates have been provisionally selected for appointment to the post of Civil Assistant Surgeons in Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad and Institute of Preventive Medicine." 

The Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao on Monday, according to a media report in Telangana Today, said, "Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board has released provisional selection list of applicants for posts of Civil Assistant Surgeons." 

In a tweet, Rao said that the selection process for recruitment of CAS was transparent, smooth and unheard of anywhere else except for Telangana. He said, "It has been a vision of Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao to extend quality health care facilities to the poor in remote areas of Telangana. I extend my best wishes to selected candidates and compliments to the recruitment board for completing the task."

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a provisional merit list released by the Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board in November comprising applicants for the posts of Civil Assistant Surgeons (CAS) in Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad (TVVP) and Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM). In June 2022, the MHSRB had notified to fill CAS vacant posts in which 751 CAS posts were in the Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare (DPHFW), 211 CAS vacant posts in hospitals under TVVP and 7 posts of CAS in IPM.
