Ajmer: In an unfortunate incident, a dermatologist at a government hospital was found dead at his residential quarters in the Kekri area of Ajmer on Tuesday. Police are investigating the case as a suspected suicide, though no suicide note was found.

The doctor had been serving at the Government District Hospital in Kekri for the past one year. On Tuesday morning, he posted a WhatsApp status that read, "Won't see any patients, please avoid unnecessary calls", a message that has since drawn attention, especially as he was scheduled for duty that day.

According to a report by ETV Bharat, the Additional Superintendent of Police said that he, along with the City Police Station officer and a team, reached the doctor’s residential quarters located behind the hospital and found him lying unconscious inside a room.

The officer added, "The doctor had skipped duty on Monday, citing ill health. On Tuesday morning, his cook had left after preparing breakfast for him. Prima facie, this seems to be a case of suicide. The body has been sent to the hospital mortuary for postmortem."

Police officials further confirmed that the residence has been sealed and the doctor’s family has been informed. "A thorough search of the residence will be conducted. His father lives near Deoli in Rajkot. The doctor's last WhatsApp status was shared at 10:37 am on Tuesday, and probe is underway," the officer added.

From the hospital’s side, it is understood that the doctor was assigned the day shift on Tuesday. When he did not report for duty by 2 pm, hospital staff, including the Principal Medical Officer, attempted to contact him multiple times, but there was no response. An employee was then sent to his residence. After repeated knocking went unanswered, the staff member looked through a gap in the window and saw him lying on the floor.

The hospital authorities immediately informed the police. Officers later broke open the main door to enter the residence and initiate formal investigation procedures. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
