Amritsar based doctor dies in road accident
Amritsar: In a hit and run incident, a woman doctor lost her life after she has been hit by the goods carrier. The accident took place on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) lane.
The doctor has been identified as Dr. Narinder Kaur, a resident of Race Course Road. Her husband is a prominent physician Dr. AP Singh, who runs a nursing home on Chamrang Road.
The accident happened when she was crossing the BRTS bus service lane when the speeding goods carrier ran over her. There was a Cantonment police station nearby when the incident took place.

Her injuries were so severe that she was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Earlier drivers of BRTS told The Tribune, "During last a few months, the number of vehicles increased in the BRTS lane. It often disrupts the service. We face traffic jams in the lane reserved for BRTS. It also leads to accidents. Sometimes, cyclists or rickshaws enter the lane because of which they have to slow down the buses. Because of this, they fail to maintain their schedule."
A case has been registered against the unidentified goods carrier driver under Section 304-A of the IPC.

After an initial investigation, the police said that the vehicle was owned by Gurmeet Singh who later sold it to some unknown person. The investigation and raids are underway to apprehend the suspect, he added.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported on a similar incident that took place on February 20 when a car had hit a senior resident doctor and an operating theatre technician while they were traveling on their bike near the Najafgarh metro station, following which they were rushed to the hospital immediately. The doctor was declared brought dead, while the technician was undergoing treatment when he gave details of the incident to the police. Both the victims were employees of Delhi Government hospitals. A 21-year-old medical student was arrested later by the Delhi police in connection with the incident.
