Assam Horror: Doctor brutally assaulted by two miscreants, ear chopped off
Dibrugarh: A horrifying incident took place in Assam’s Dibrugarh district, where a doctor working as an intern at a hospital was critically injured and his ear chopped off after being thrashed by two youths in connection with a Facebook post.
A doctor doing his internship at a hospital in Majuli was assaulted at his residence allegedly by two youths here in Assam’s Dibrugarh district over a social media post, police said on Wednesday.
The doctor suffered injuries on his head, ear and other parts of the body and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital here.

He was assaulted in connection with a Facebook post, Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ) Bitul Chetia said, without divulging the content of the post.
A case was registered at the Gabarupathar police outpost and investigations are on, he said adding that no arrests were made.
As per a recent media report in the HT, Dibrugarh superintendent of police (SP) Shwetank Mishra said the attack on the doctor was a result of a personal issue and they have identified one of the accused. “Due to a personal issue, the junior doctor was attacked, and the accused are absconding. Family members have identified one of them and they said there were two attackers”.
In the FIR lodged by the victim’s family on Tuesday, it was alleged that two youths had come to their house asking for the doctor on Monday night and when he came out, they beat him up seriously injuring him.
The victim's father has identified the attackers as Rajdeep Gohain and Devraj Borgohain and the family informed that the doctor was attacked following a Facebook comment by a woman on a song that he had released.
He is also a singer and had recently released a song on YouTube.
