Belagavi: In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old postgraduate student pursuing psychiatry at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) allegedly ended her life by consuming an overdose of medicines in her hostel room.
According to recent media reports, this was not the student’s first attempt to harm herself. Just a few days ago, she had attempted suicide by slitting her wrist but was saved with immediate medical intervention. It has been reported that she had been battling depression for several months and was undergoing treatment.
No suicide note was found in her room, and the reason behind her taking the extreme step for the second time is also unknown. The police have launched an investigation from all angles to identify the cause.

As per TNIE, the incident took place on Monday when the student had completed her hospital duty at around 6.30 pm on Monday and returned to her hostel room. She was found lying on her bed unconscious. Her hostelmates immediately admitted her to the emergency departtment of the hospital, where she was declared dead.
