Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old dentist and her 60-year-old husband were allegedly murdered by their son at their villa in East Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The couple was found with multiple stab injuries and was declared brought dead at a private hospital after neighbours rushed them for emergency care.

The deceased doctor was a practising dentist, and her husband was a retired Navy captain. They were residing at a villa in Vignan Nagar near the HAL township. The accused, their 33-year-old son, has been taken into custody.

According to a report by The Times of India, preliminary investigation indicates that the accused is a US-returned software engineer. He allegedly stabbed his parents around 8 am following a heated argument over financial matters. Neighbours were alerted by the commotion and shifted the critically injured couple to the hospitals on Old Airport Road, where doctors declared them brought dead. A neighbour, who was also a doctor associated with the same hospital, lodged the complaint with the HAL police.

Police sources stated that the accused had returned to Bengaluru three years ago after working in the US. While details of his overseas employment are yet to be verified, officials said he was working independently on projects and was keen to scale up his ventures. He reportedly faced difficulty in arranging capital and had been pressuring his parents to financially back his plans.

Investigators said that repeated arguments over money had strained family relations, leading the accused to move to a rented accommodation in Varthur some time ago. However, he allegedly visited the villa on Monday night and renewed his demand for funds. The dispute is said to have escalated by Wednesday morning.

Police have produced the accused before a court and are continuing further investigation. The bodies have been shifted to Bowring Hospital for postmortem examination, which will be conducted after the arrival of the couple’s daughter from the United States.
