Bond Penalty reduced to Rs 10 lakh for PG, SS medicos in Rajasthan, Rs 5 lakh after completing 1 year service
Jaipur: Offering partial relief to the Postgraduate and super-speciality medical students belonging to Government medical colleges in Rajasthan, the State has decided to offer a one time relaxation to the doctors and reduce the bond amount from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
Further, the Government has decided to allow a special provision for the students admitted during the years 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
As per the order issued by Chief Secretary of the Medical Education Department, if these doctors chooses not to undergo government service for the next one year after completing one year tenure of bond service, they can be freed from the bond service terms by depositing an amount of Rs 5 lakh to the State.
However, the State has kept the tenure of bond service same i.e. two years. The Government relief comes at a time when the resident doctors in Rajasthan had been protesting against the delayed implementation of bond service terms and the rules of the bond agreement.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that back in July, the State Medical Education Department in Rajasthan had issued an order for proper implementation of bond service terms. Back then the State had reduced the compulsory bond service period for doctors pursuing Post Graduate and Super Speciality courses in the state-run medical colleges from a period of 5 years to 2 years.
It had also been specified by the Government that the bond service terms would be effective for all the candidates of the academic year 2019-2020 and beyond. However, even though the 2019 batch has completed their courses almost six months ago, the Government has not yet issued their bond service posting.
Therefore, initiating a protest, the doctors in Rajasthan were demanding relief from the State regarding the bond service terms. Finally, the State Medical Education Department on 28.10.2022 released an order and mentioned about the one-time relaxation offered to the students admitted to the PG medical and Super-specialty courses during the academic year 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
As per the government order:
1. As a one time relaxation for the Postgraduate and Super-Specialty batches admitted during 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, the bond amount has been made Rs 10 lakh. The tenure of the bond will be 02 years as before.
2. Special provision is also made for admission batch 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22 that if a candidate does not want to do government service after completing one year of service for the State, then he/she will be eligible to get freed from the bond terms for one year by depositing an amount of Rs 5 lakh.
"All the remaining provisions in the above order will remain as they are," clarified the order.
