Ludhiana: Two Ludhiana doctors working with a private nursing home have been booked by the police after an alleged botched cosmetic surgery of a man's nose due to which he developed breathing issues.

Although the matter was taken to the civil surgeon's office seeking an explanation from the concerned doctors, the issue was overlooked and no action was taken against the doctors.

After the issue reached the corridors of the police station, both doctors were booked following a careful investigation.

The accused were working at Deep Nursing home in Guru Arjun Dev Nagar, who botched cosmetic surgery on a man from Basti Jodhewal, causing breathing difficulties.

The incident goes back to last year December, when the man, Gurdeep Kumar decided to get cosmetic surgery done on his nose. For that, he visited the nursing home hoping to get the perfect shape of his nose.

The hospital charged him Rs 35,000 for the surgery. After the surgery was done, he developed breathing difficulties and also his nose was out of shape. "The surgery made my nose crooked and I am now facing difficulty in breathing," he informed HT.

Because his daily life was getting affected as he was unable to breathe properly, he decided to approach the doctors and ask for an improvement. The doctors in return prescribed him medicines for three months.

However, the problem did not resolve so he submitted a complaint to the civil surgeon's office but ignored the matter.

Ultimately, Kumar approached the police and lodged a complaint on June 21, this year. Later, the police registered a case against the doctors under Sections 336 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code at the Division Number 8 police station.

Section 336 in The Indian Penal Code- Act endangering life or personal safety of others.—Whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine which may extend to two hundred and fifty rupees, or with both.

Section 338 in The Indian Penal Code- Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.—Whoever causes grievous hurt to any person by doing any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life, or the personal safety of others, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
