Chandigarh doctor duped of Rs 1 lakh by fraudster posing as CRPF Jawan
Chandigarh: In another case of cyber fraud, a 36-year-old doctor has been duped of Rs 1 lakh by an online fraudster who posed as a CRPF soldier.
The doctor has been identified as Dr Gaurav Sharma, a resident of Sector 25 and he has a clinic in the same area.
The incident took place on July 7 when the doctor received a WhatsApp call on his mobile phone from the fraudster, who identified himself as Satish Kumar, an Army soldier posted at CRPF in the city. He asked about the doctor's availability as he will send Army soldiers to get treatment at his clinic. In order to come across as a legit Army person, the fraudster video called the doctor along with another man dressed in an Army uniform. The doctor was promised online advance payments by the fraudster.
