Chandigarh: Medical Officer found guilty of corruption, gets 4 years imprisonment

Chandigarh:(UNI) The Court of Additional District and Session Judge, Fatehabad has convicted Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Medical Officer in a corruption case and sentenced him to four years' imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.   

Sharing the details, a spokesperson of the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau said that Dr Rajiv Kumar was arrested by the Bureau in a corruption case while he was posted at Community Health Centre, Bhuna in Fatehabad.

A case was registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the year 2016.

The Court has awarded imprisonment of 3-years along with a Rs 50000 fine to the guilty under section 7 and 4-years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 50000 under section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar story where the medical superintendent of a sub-district hospital in Bhor Taluka was booked by the unit of the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a private doctor to give a positive report of his sonography center.

The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (PCA, 1988) is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to combat corruption in government agencies and public sector businesses in India.
