Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar doctor threatened, 6 arrested for Rs 5 lakh extortion attempt

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In a shocking incident, six individuals were arrested in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for allegedly issuing death threats to a doctor and attempting to extort Rs 5 lakh from him. The accused were caught red-handed while collecting the cash at a hospital, police said.  

According to police officials, the six-member group from Dhule allegedly threatened the doctor with death if he failed to pay Rs 5 lakh. The complainant reported that the accused repeatedly called him between March 5 and March 13, issuing threats and demanding money.

Refusing to succumb to the extortion demand, the complainant lodged a complaint with the police. Acting on the information, a team led by assistant inspector Manoj Shinde, under the guidance of inspector Nirmala Pardeshi, laid a trap, leading to their arrest. The six accused were taken into custody, and further investigation is underway. Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj Shinde is currently leading the probe into the case.  

In a separate incident, a doctor in Nashik was recently allegedly targeted in an extortion racket involving a history-sheeter and his female associate.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a 30-year-old assistant doctor at a private hospital in Nashik had been allegedly targeted in an extortion racket by a history-sheeter and his female associate. According to police officials, the main accused is currently lodged in jail in connection with another criminal case. However, after learning about the fresh extortion charges, his alleged accomplice fled and is presently absconding. The complainant, a resident of Makhmalabad, said that the history-sheeter's associate lived in a building opposite her residence.
