Nashik Assistant Doctor alleges extortion by history-sheeter; case registered

Nashik: A 30-year-old assistant doctor at a private hospital in Nashik has been allegedly targeted in an extortion racket by a history-sheeter and his female associate. A police case has been registered at Mhasrul Police Station.

According to police officials, the main accused is currently lodged in jail in connection with another criminal case. However, after learning about the fresh extortion charges, his alleged accomplice fled and is presently absconding.

Over time, the accused woman allegedly collected cash and valuables worth more than Rs 4.9 lakh from the doctor. The complainant claimed she handed over gold jewellery and even availed of a bank loan to financially assist the accused.

"However, when the complainant asked for money back, the history-sheeter and the woman allegedly began threatening the assistant doctor with severe consequences. The accused even threatened to kill or break the assistant doctor's limbs, claiming he already had several murder and attempted murder cases against him," the police said, citing the complaint, reports TOI.

Authorities said they intend to take the male accused into custody in connection with the new extortion case, while efforts are ongoing to locate the female accomplice. Police records indicate that the history-sheeter has at least seven prior cases, including murder, attempted murder, and offences related to bodily harm and property.
