Dentist commits suicide, husband held for abetment
Suicide
New Delhi: In an unfortunate incident, a 29-year-old dentist allegedly committed suicide at her house in northwest Delhi. Police have arrested her husband, a pediatrician, on charges of abetment of suicide and cruelty following allegations from the deceased's father that he had been abusing her for the past year, despite their separation.
According to the police, the deceased doctor did not leave a suicide note, but a mobile phone was found smashed on the floor. This indicated to the police that the couple had argued the day before the dentist took her own life.

The 29-year-old woman was a dentist who had been practicing at a city hospital for several years while her husband worked as a pediatrician at a private hospital. The couple married two-and-a-half years ago but lived separately for the past year. The husband resides with his family in Shakurpur and the wife lived at her house in northwest Delhi’s Rohini Sector 8.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an unfortunate incident, a 26-year-old female doctor allegedly died by suicide at her house in Delhi's Rohini on Sunday, police said. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
The incident came to light on Sunday when the woman did not respond to calls from her neighbours who knocked on her door. The neighbours noticed that she was not opening her door and suspected something was amiss. Worried for her, the neighbours informed the police.
“We received a call at around 3.15 pm. When we went to her house and opened it, she was found dead. There was no suicide note at the spot. Further, we found that her mobile phone was lying damaged on the floor," said Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP) Rohini Amit Goel.
Meanwhile, the deceased father accused the pediatrician of abuse and filed a complaint at the police station. Based on the complaint and substantial evidence, the police arrested the doctor under relevant sections of BNS.
Commenting on this, a senior police officer told HT, "Investigation revealed that the husband had visited the woman a day before the incident. We don’t know the exact sequence of events, but it looks like they had a fight. Her phone was allegedly smashed. After the man left, the woman died by suicide. We also have a complaint from the woman’s father, who has alleged that the husband had been calling and abusing her for the past one year. The couple had previously filed complaints against each other but later withdrew them. Based on the evidence and the father’s complaint, we arrested the husband."
An investigation in this regard is underway and the police are trying to retrieve some information from the broken phone.
