Dibrugarh Dentist duped of Rs 1.5 lakh by fraudster posing as army officer
The fraudster insisted on making advance payments, to which the dentist agreed. The dentist received a link shared by the fraudster; once she clicked on the link to initiate the advance payment transaction, money started to get debited from her account.;
Guwahati: In another case of cyber fraud, a dental surgeon was duped of Rs 1.5 lakh by a fraudster posing as an Army officer on the pretext of getting dental checkups for a batch of 35 army jawans.
The dental surgeon has been identified as Shilpika Chutia of Dibrugarh in Assam. She was allegedly deceived and lost Rs 1.5 lakh in the process.
Seeking appointments for the soldiers, an unknown man impersonating an army officer claiming to be an officer from the Mohanbari Army Camp, contacted the dentist via video call. The man was dressed as an Army officer and asked the dentist to book appointments for his 35 subordinates. He said that the subordinates would visit her clinic in Dibrugarh's Boiragimoth for medical checkups, G plus reports.

Around Rs 1.5 lakh was debited from her account in four installments. First Rs 50,000 and then Rs 40,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
