Doctor attacked at Kozhikode Hospital, 4 booked
Vadakara: In a recent case of violence against medical professionals, police have registered a case against four individuals for allegedly attacking a doctor at Maniyoor near Vadakara. The authorities have identified the accused, and investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of other gang members.
The incident occurred on hospital premises in the Maniyoor area, where the doctor was attending to patients. According to the news reports, a six-member gang forcefully entered the facility and allegedly violently assaulted the doctor, leaving him with serious head injuries.

Initial findings suggest that there was a personal enmity behind the attack. Police reached the spot and took further action, reports Manorama Online.
Speaking to the Hindu, police sources said the case was registered on a complaint by Gopi Krishnan, the injured doctor who was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital following the incident on July 8.
This attack has added to growing concerns over the safety of doctors and healthcare staff.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in another incident of violence against medical professionals, a female 3rd-year PG medico in the General Medicine department at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and Hospital was allegedly brutally thrashed by a patient's husband following a dispute over replacing a cannula for an injection. Following the attack, the doctor filed a complaint against the accused. Based on it, the police registered a case and arrested him under sections of BNS 121 (1) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a public servant to deter him/her from discharging duty, 132 for using criminal force against a public servant, 79 for insulting the modesty of a woman by uttering obscene words or through some gestures, 296 (b) for abusing, and 115 (2) for voluntarily causing hurt, sections 3 and 4 of Kerala Healthcare Services Persons and Healthcare Services Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act-2012.
