Doctor couple killed as car crashes into ditch in Tamil Nadu

Tirunelveli: In a tragic incident, a doctor couple among three persons died in a road accident after their car overturned and fell into a roadside ditch near Kayathar in Thoothukudi district on Tuesday. 

The male doctor driving the vehicle lost control as it passed through Kayathar in Tuticorin, causing it to flip over and crash into a ditch on the side of the road.

The three people include the doctor couple and their relative. They have been identified as 50-year-old Dr Ravindran, his wife 45-year-old Dr Ramani and their 70-year-old relative.

As per a TOI news report, the accident occurred when they were returning home from Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on Tuesday evening. After reaching near Kayathar in Tuticorin, the car lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch. The accident claimed the lives of three people who died on the spot due to severe injuries.  

Following this, the locals informed the police who rushed to the spot and conducted an investigation. They recovered the bodies from the scene and sent them for postmortem to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital.

The police have initiated an investigation into the accident and registered a case accordingly.
