Dr Arvind Ghanghoria Appointed as MGM Medical College Dean
Indore: The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the post of dean at MGM Medical College, Indore, has finally come to an end with the appointment of Dr. Arvind Ghanghoria. He officially assumed charge on Friday, becoming the third dean in just three months. Dr. Ghanghoria replaces Dr. V.P. Pandey, who had a brief tenure at the college.
Dr. Ghanghoria is a senior gastro surgeon with over 25 years of experience, having performed more than 25,000 major surgeries. Before taking up this role, Dr. Ghanghoria served as the dean of the Government Medical College in Neemuch. His appointment comes at a time when MGM Medical College has been experiencing frequent administrative shifts, causing concerns about stability and continuity in leadership.
After Dr Dixit’s retirement, a formal replacement of the college became necessary. Hence, MY Hospital Superintendent Dr Ashok Yadav, took over temporarily. But his appointment was challenged by Dr VP Pandey on the grounds of seniority. In its directive, the court appointed Dr Pandey, considering his seniority in the institute. The bench comprising Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla stated during the hearing that he would hold the position until the state government makes a direct or regular appointment. Now, finally, Dr Arvind has been appointed as the dean.
With extensive experience in medical education and administration, Dr. Ghanghoria is expected to bring a structured approach to the institution. The doctor, sharing his vision, stated that MY Hospital will also be made the leader in advanced fields like robotic surgery. For this, first a training center will be opened and young doctors will be trained.
After gathering resources, robotic surgery will be made available to patients at very low rates, MGM College's new Dean, Dr. Arvind Ghanghoria, told Amar Ujala. “If you keep working selflessly, you will definitely get encouragement. “There was a dispute for the post of Dean for a long time. I myself had never thought of it. I believe that if you keep doing your work selflessly, then you definitely get encouragement somewhere. I started surgery in Neemuch Medical College. A group of 100 batch MBBS students came there and were given all the educational facilities there. This was a successful model. After this, my name was put forward for the Dean of MGM Medical College," he added.
“I am doing surgery even after coming to the post of Dean. Every doctor should try to give more than his working time. One should never work less than the prescribed time, some doctors are working more than the prescribed time. They are also role models for others. Some doctors work less than the prescribed time, we will take action against them,” he told the Daily. He also stated that strict action will be taken in case of ragging. “Those who harass any medical student will not be spared. Students should focus on their studies without any worry. Contact me immediately in case of any problem,” assured the doctor.
