New Delhi: Dr Kartikeya Kohli, an Internal Medicine Consultant with super speciality training in Nephrology, has been conferred the prestigious IMA distinguished Academician award recently.

The awards to the awardees were presented by Dr Ankita Chakravarty, IAS Secretary NDMC at the 41st Annual Convention of the Indian Medical Association- SDB held at Hotel Surya on 12th March 2023.

Dr Kartikeya Kohli has been conferred this honour for single-handedly organising more than 35 continuing medical education programs and contributing more than 200 articles in different Medical bulletins and portals including Medical Dialogues during last year. 

He has worked with various eminent hospitals in Delhi including Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sir Gangaram Hospital and Sitaram Bhartia Hospital in the past.

He has been closely associated with India Medical Association South Delhi Branch as Asset Secretary and associate editor and with Delhi Medical Association as a member executive. He has been instrumental in organising continuing medical education programs on their behalf from time to time. Further, he has been contributing medical articles for their newsletters as well. He is also associated with electronic media and TV for the conduction and presentation of health programs. 

A medical graduate from KMC Mangalore, Dr Kohli's academic qualifications includes a degree in DNB Medicine, Post Graduate Super-speciality training from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, India, MRCP- UK Member of Royal College of Physicians in 2017, ECFMG Certification in 2011 and DNB Internal Medicine from Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi, India 2008-2011.

He received hands-on training in Transplant Immunology in an HLA Workshop conducted by the Department of Transfusion Medicine and Transplant Immunology under the aegis of the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion & Immunohematology (ISBTI) in September 2018.

Dr Kohli has done PG Diploma in Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes by Royal College of Physicians (2021), Advanced Diabetes care & Comorbidities by Royal College of Physicians (2021) as well as Advanced Cardiology and ECG by the Royal College of Physicians (2021).

He is ECFMG Certified and a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. He is registered with the Delhi Medical Council and member of the Delhi Medical Association.

After working with the Delhi Doctors Association to organize Diabetes Detection Camps and Cardiac Check-up camps across Delhi for over a year, in 2006, Dr Kohli underwent rural posting as a medical officer for visiting neighbouring slums of Delhi for regular health check-ups and for imparting health-related information to people.

For 3 years till 2008, he served as a Polio Booth Officer, at the Department of Family Welfare, Government of Delhi. Later, he worked as a member of the Blood Donation Committee of the IMA, South Delhi branch.

Since 2011, he is working as a Medical Officer with the Delhi Medical Association to organise and conduct free health camps in Delhi for the lower strata of society.

In the year 2021, he was elected as Delhi Medical Association Executive from IMA South Delhi Branch.
