J&K Govt transfers 22 doctors in major administrative reshuffle

Jammu: In a major administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening healthcare services and improving patient care in the Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has transferred and posted 22 doctors across various districts and health institutions.
The transfers were issued through Government Order No. 411-JK(HME) of 2026, dated May 12, 2026. According to the order, the reshuffle has been carried out “in the interest of administration and patient care” and will take effect immediately.

The order further stated that multiple doctors have been posted as Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers in districts including Shopian, Reasi, Pattan, Kupwara, Beerwah, Khansahib, Bijbehara, Mendhar, and Bishnah.
The government clarified that all transfers and postings are temporary and subject to the outcome of any pending court cases or legal proceedings. All doctors concerned have been relieved from their previous postings and directed to join their new assignments immediately.
The order was issued by M. Raju, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government, Health and Medical Education Department.
