New Delhi: Dr Vipender Sabharwal, a well-known Laparoscopic & General Surgeon has been elected as the new president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), South Delhi Branch.  

Dr Vipender emerged as the new president due to his remarkable dedication and leadership in the medical field.  

He is a consultant Laparoscopic & General Surgeon at Jeewan Hospital who received a Gold Medal from the government in January 2024. He is an International Faculty, teaching worldwide with Johnson and Johnson (J&J) Storz and the Royal College of Surgeons.

He has specialization in Laparoscopy and Laser Surgeries and performed more than 15000 minimal access laparoscopic surgeries and has expertise in Laser surgeries (Ultrasonic). 

Dr Vipender completed his MBBS from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak in 1997, MS from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune in 2004, DNB in General Surgery from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and got his PG diploma degree from Edinburgh (UK).

He is the recipient of the Health ICON Award and the Most Promising Laparoscopic Surgeon of India award.  

As per an Economic Times news report, Dr Alka Malhotra, the current President of IMA, South Delhi Branch, will formally transfer the responsibility to Dr Vipender soon.

His vision and commitment to the healthcare community make him the ideal candidate to lead the South Delhi Branch of IMA into a new era of progress and excellence.

Medical Dialogues team earlier reported that on a momentous occasion at the 98th national conference of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) held at Kovalam, Dr R.V. Asokan, a distinguished doctor from Kerala, has officially assumed the position of national president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA). Dr Asokan is a practising general physician running a 43 bedded hospital, in Punalur, a small town in Kollam district of Kerala.
