Five persons of Karnal private hospital booked for allegedly manhandling drug department team
Karnal: In order to inquire about a medical negligence case of transfusing wrong blood into a patient, a joint team of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) visited a private hospital in Karnal and has been allegedly thrashed by the doctors and staff of the hospital.
On Thursday evening, the team visited the hospital after they received a complaint of an elder patient who died due to the medical negligence of the doctors at the hospital. Five person have been booked by the police in this regard.
The incident goes back to August 1st when the patient's son Pawan brought his father identified as Krishna Dutt to the hospital as he was having trouble breathing. The doctors recommended bypass surgery on the patient which was scheduled from 1 pm to 5 pm the next day after being admitted.

During the surgery, the patient's health deteriorated after he was given blood. Later after confronting the doctor, it was revealed that the patient was given AB-positive blood instead of B-positive blood.
Witnessing his father in critical condition, Pawan discharged his father from the hospital and admitted him to another private hospital in Mohali on August 6 but his condition there was the same. No improvement was observed. Pawan then again re-admitted his father back to the Karnal hospital on August 6 evening. Unfortunately, he died during his treatment at the hospital.
Angered by the situation, the family members of the hospital refused to take his body. They accused the doctor and the hospital staff of medical negligence against the patient and filed a complaint at the police station.
The police station in-charge Manoj Kumar told Jagran that the postmortem of the dead body has been conducted by the board. The exact cause of death will be known after getting the report.
However, after the manhandling case in the hospital, a case has been registered by the Sadar police against five persons. The police are further investigating the matter.
In response to the matter, the team members also directed the hospital to stop all activities of the blood bank until further orders, The Tribune reports.
