Fraud entries of doctors registration found at Medical Council online database: Telangana police

According to a recent report by TOI, the registrar of the TSMC, Dr Ch Hanumantha Rao was recently called by the Police for obtaining more details regarding the TSMC employees and the fake entries in the database that manages the registration of the doctors.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Cybercrime detectives of the Hyderabad police recently searched the premises of the State Medical Council in this connection after four doctors approached the Council for the renewal of their licenses.

It was then that the council noticed that the data provided by those four doctors didn't match with the data of the medical council.

Following this, a complaint was lodged by the registrar of the council and a case was registered in this matter.

Meanwhile, the preliminary probe indicated that a technical error of TSMC might have been responsible for it. However, police were trying to find out if this error was pre-planned.

Doctors, who are willing to practice in Telangana, mandatorily need to register with the council. Even though the council also manages a physical record of all the data, duplicate registrations sometimes occur in the digital database. The council does not have a database administrator, its true. However, the computers of the Council are connected to the internet.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, before approaching the cybercrime police, the Council had approached ACB in 2018 with the details of two fraudulent registrations that the Council had encountered. However, the ACB informed the council after 18 months that a probe by the local police would be more apt in that case.

Following this, the Council recently approached the local police regarding the fraudulent registration of four doctors and while conducting the probe, the police called the Registrar of the Council for collecting more details regarding the duplicate entries in the Council database.

Speaking to TOI, the Registrar of TSMC, Dr Ch Hanumantha Rao confirmed that he was called by the police and said, "I was asked how many employees we have at TSMC and what kind of duplicate fake registrations have been noticed in the database."
