GMC intern found dead on Hawaii beach, investigation underway
Panaji: In an unfortunate incident, a 23-year-old female intern doctor from Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was found dead at a beach near Panaji on Wednesday, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, police said.
According to police officials, the doctor's body was found on a Hawaii beach in Dona Paula on Wednesday evening.
Following the incident, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has directed GMCH dean Dr Jai Prakash Tiwari to ensure a thorough medical investigation, reports PTI.
According to The Goan news report, the victim, who was interning at Goa Medical College after completing her medical degree, was found wearing a doctor's gown bearing her name, which helped establish her identity.

An unnatural death case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the doctor's death.
Police personnel and forensic experts searched the area around the scene for medical equipment, personal belongings, and other items that could assist the investigation.
Officials told The Goan that they would examine her personal and professional background as part of the inquiry.
The police stated that the doctor's body has been sent for a post-mortem, and the exact cause of death can only be determined after the report is received.
The Health Department is also keeping a close watch on the matter. Investigative agencies are trying to ascertain how the doctor reached the beach and what happened before her death, according to an Aaj Tak report.
Police are also trying to determine how she reached the location and whether any vehicle linked to her was found nearby.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community, with colleagues and healthcare professionals expressing grief over the untimely demise of the young doctor.
