Athmakur: A government doctor posted at the Rural Health Centre in Kuralla village under Yadadri Bhongir district was suspended on Friday for absenteeism and falsifying attendance records. The action was taken following a surprise inspection by District Collector Hanumanth Rao.

According to the news reports, during the surprise visit, the collector discovered that both the doctor and the ANM were absent from the health facility. When questioned, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) present at the centre informed him that the ANM had gone to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) to collect medicines. However, villagers reported that the doctor had a long-standing pattern of irregular attendance — reportedly turning up for duty just one day a week.

On verifying the attendance register, the Collector noticed that the doctor had marked his presence daily despite being absent. Taking serious note of this, he immediately directed the DMHO to suspend the doctor, reports the Hans India.

The Collector was accompanied by MPDO J Ramulu Naik, MPO Padmavathi, Panchayat Secretary Amboju Shekhar, and other officials during the inspection.
