Medical Officer among 5 get show cause notice for unauthorized absence

Adilabad: In a move to address unauthorised absences, the District Medical and Health Officer, Dr Narender Rathod, issued show-cause notices to five medical staff from Indervelli Primary Health Centre (PHC) for allegedly failing to obtain prior permission from authorities before taking leave.
The doctors who received the show-cause notices include Medical Officer Srikanth, Community Health Officer Sandeep, Supervisor Suresh, Public Health Nurse Jyothi, and Mid-Level Health Provider Puja. They have been asked to explain their unauthorised absence.

The action came after a surprise inspection at the Indervelli Primary Health Centre (PHC) by Collector Rajarshi Shah. During the inspection, Shah reviewed the healthcare services and checked attendance records.
Noticing gaps in duties, he expressed dissatisfaction and identified five officials among them. Following this, he instructed the DMHO to take immediate action against them, reports Telangana Today.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that nearly 1,194 doctors, 252 nurses and over 300 other staff members in Telangana were supposed to get terminated after many had already received notices by the state government for allegedly failing to report to their assigned duties. A total of 2,000 government employees from various state hospitals came under government scrutiny for taking leave without prior notice at a time when the shortage of medical staff in the state is on the rise.
Among those who received the notices, 72 employees have already expressed their willingness to return to work. Among the 2,000 employees listed for dismissal, 859 doctors were from various healthcare facilities ranging from primary health centres to district and general hospitals under the Directorate of Health's (DHS) control.
